Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

DOS formed many years after NXIVM began and was not disclosed to the broader student body. Federal proceedings established crimes by Raniere and several senior associates; Raniere was convicted of racketeering, sex trafficking, forced labor conspiracy, and other offenses and sentenced to 120 years. Nancy Salzman separately pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and received a 42-month sentence. Those outcomes establish accountability for named defendants, not collective criminal responsibility for every person who attended NXIVM courses.
