The drawer phone is a loophole and we should say so

On the claim: “Emergencies are not an exception.”

We wrote "emergencies are not an exception" and then half of us started keeping a phone in a drawer, switched off, for the hospital. I do not think that is cheating. I think it is a second rule we have not written down, and an unwritten rule is worse than a lenient one.

It is not a loophole if it is in the text. Write it in: one device, powered off, for a named person who might need you. That is not a screen, that is a smoke alarm.

The Order went through this with the Hour and landed the same place. A rule nobody can keep produces liars, not ascetics.

Persuaded. I will propose the amendment rather than keep arguing with my own members about what we already do.
