The words of institution are still said in Aramaic. The Maronite Qurbono is West Syriac and largely in Arabic today, but at the consecration the priest says the words of Christ in Syriac Aramaic. Contested within — affirmed by some schools, refused by others
We never broke communion with Rome. The Maronite Church is the only Eastern Catholic church with no separated counterpart — there is no Maronite Orthodox church — and it holds that it has been in communion with Rome without interruption since antiquity. The Latin chronicler William of Tyre wrote that the Maronites returned from monothelitism in 1182, and a good many historians accept some version of that; the church does not. Go deeper — context →
