Rite of Nichiren Buddhism
Gongyo.
Recitation of Lotus Sūtra passages and the daimoku before the Gohonzon scroll, morning and evening.
⏱ daily — morning and evening◌ practitioners
Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this rite is held
Gongyo is the daily liturgy: recitation of portions of the Lotus Sūtra's second and sixteenth chapters, followed by chanting the daimoku, performed morning and evening before the Gohonzon scroll. Duration varies by tradition and by practitioner. The regularity is the point — the practice is designed to be done every day for a lifetime rather than intensively on retreat.
