The open temple.

Egalitarian service, patrilineal descent recognized, interfaith families welcomed — belonging drawn wide on purpose.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Reform congregations are the most open in Judaism by design: patrilineal descent has been recognized since 1983 (a decision no other major movement accepts), interfaith families are welcomed, LGBTQ Jews are ordained, and conversion is actively supported. That openness is the movement's principled position and also its most contested one, since it means Reform Jews are not universally recognized as Jewish by Orthodox authorities, with real consequences in Israel.
