Core tenet of Alephheld by most

The practice Asahara taught is still the path.

This is the position of the main body of Aleph and the reason the 2000 reform did not hold. The meditation, the stages and the cosmology are the ones Aum taught; what Aleph says it has abandoned is the apocalyptic conclusion drawn from them.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

The awkward fact about Aleph is that most of what its members do is unremarkable. They meditate, recite, attend seminars, and hold down jobs. The cosmology is Aum's and so is the method, which is the state's stated reason for keeping the group under observation: the argument is not that Aleph is planning an attack but that the structure which produced one is intact. Aleph disputes this and points to the 2000 reforms and its compensation payments. Both positions are on the public record, and this page does not adjudicate between them.
