Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Prabhat Ranjan Sarkar (1921–1990) worked as an accounts clerk at the Jamalpur railway workshop and initiated his first students by the tracks in the evenings. Under the name Shrii Shrii Anandamurti he produced a complete meditation system, the Ananda Sutram, a philosophy of history, a theory of language and more than five thousand songs — the Prabhat Samgiita — composed in the last eight years of his life. He was imprisoned from 1971, convicted in 1976 during the Emergency of conspiring in the deaths of former members, and released in August 1978 when the case collapsed on review. Initiates call him Baba and regard him as guru; the movement is explicit that it worships no person and installs no images.
