Core tenet of The Armenian Catholic Church

Armenian in rite, Catholic in communion.

The church uses the Armenian liturgy, the Armenian calendar and Classical Armenian, and holds Catholic doctrine including papal primacy. Its head is a Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenians, elected by the Armenian Catholic synod and confirmed by the pope, with the patriarchal convent at Bzommar in Lebanon and the see in Beirut.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

The Armenian Catholic Church is one of the smallest of the Eastern Catholic churches and one of the most scattered: Lebanon, Syria, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Turkey, France, the United States, Argentina. Its head carries the title Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia of the Armenians, a deliberate echo of the Apostolic Catholicosate of Cilicia. Raphael Bedros XXI Minassian was elected in September 2021 and installed in October of that year. The Mekhitarist congregation, founded on San Lazzaro in Venice in 1717, belongs to this church and did an enormous amount of the scholarly work that preserved Classical Armenian literature.
