Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Warren Jeffs was his father's school principal and secretary before succeeding him as prophet in September 2002. He closed the community school, expelled men and reassigned their families, moved a core group to the newly built YFZ Ranch in Texas, and fled arrest in 2005, spending a year on the FBI Ten Most Wanted list. Convicted in Utah in 2007 as an accomplice to rape and released when that conviction was overturned in 2010, he was retried in Texas and convicted on 4 August 2011 of sexually assaulting a twelve-year-old and a fifteen-year-old, and sentenced on 9 August to life plus twenty years. He continues to issue revelations from prison and remains the prophet to those who have stayed.
