Kopyacting.

Copying performed together, in one another's presence, rather than alone at a keyboard. The act is identical to ordinary file sharing; what makes it a rite is that it is done openly, deliberately and in company.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this rite is held

Kopyacting is copying done together and in the open, and the whole of what makes it a rite is that it is public and deliberate. The act itself is ordinary file sharing; the difference is the presence of others and the acknowledgement of what is being done. Congregations meet in person and online, with the leader — an Op, a title borrowed from IRC channel operators — presiding. There is no liturgy, no fixed words and no calendar, and the church has not developed any in fifteen years. Critics read this as evidence that the religion is a legal costume; kopimists reply that a sacrament which requires nothing beyond doing the sacred thing openly is a purer form than one padded with ceremony. No Swedish court has been asked to decide.
