The Ginza Rabba — the Great Treasure — is the principal scripture, in Mandaic, a dialect of Eastern Aramaic that is still the liturgical language and is spoken by a dwindling number of families. It is bound so that the Right Ginza (cosmology, theology, ethics for the living) and the Left Ginza (the soul's ascent, read at funerals) are read from opposite ends of the same volume, with one half upside down relative to the other.
