Revelation is ongoing.
Each generation reads anew — and the ethical core is the point of the reading.
Reform's founding claim is that revelation is progressive: God's will unfolds through history and human moral understanding, so the ritual law can be evaluated and, where it no longer serves, set aside, while the ethical law is permanent. The 1885 Pittsburgh Platform stated this at its most confident, rejecting dietary and priestly laws outright. Later Reform, particularly since the 1970s, has moved back toward traditional practice on a voluntary basis, which is a real reversal the movement discusses openly.
