Effortlessness is the whole instruction. TM is not concentration and not mindfulness. The mantra is allowed to become faint and to go; trying is treated as the one error a beginner reliably makes. Go deeper — context →
Contested within — affirmed by some schools, refused by others
It is a technique, not a religion — and a court disagreed. The organisation teaches TM in schools and prisons on the ground that it requires no belief.
