Mar Thoma Darmo.
Metropolitan of India for the Church of the East, he was deposed by Mar Shimun for opposing the reforms, travelled to Baghdad in 1968 at the invitation of the objecting clergy, and consecrated three bishops — restoring a hierarchy for the party that had none. He died in September 1969, little more than a year later. Everything this church has, it has through those consecrations.
Thoma Darmo was a scholar as well as a bishop, and had edited liturgical texts. His consecration of bishops for a church that had deposed him was, on his account, a rescue of clergy left without sacraments, and on the Assyrian side an act of schism. He was elected patriarch in Baghdad in 1968 and died the following year. The succession he created has continued unbroken: Mar Addai II from 1972 to his death in February 2022, then Mar Yakoob III briefly, then Mar Gewargis III Younan.
