Core tenet of Christianity

The resurrection defeated death.

The tomb was empty — the claim on which Paul stakes the entire faith.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Paul calls the resurrection load-bearing: if it did not happen, the whole structure falls. It is claimed not as resuscitation — a corpse revived to die again — but as death itself run through and exited, the first instance of what is promised to everyone.

From the sources — the passages this rests on; concise renderings, cited

If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is empty and your faith is empty.
