Nettles and Applewhite named themselves after notes in a scale and refused any other title. They insisted they were staff rather than saviours, and the group's materials are notably free of the language of worship — which did not stop the class from taking their instructions as final.

The shared center — held across the tradition
The kingdom of heaven is a physical place and you get there in a craft.
The group read the gospels as a literal account of visitors: the Next Level is a real civilisation, its members have bodies, and the resurrection was a transfer. This is why the teaching has no mysticism in it at all — it is closer to an emigration procedure than to a devotion.

Cosmos & Afterlife
how reality is built, and what follows deathThe nature of reality
Physical throughout. There is no immaterial realm in this teaching — the Next Level is a place with bodies, vehicles and work in it, and Earth is a garden it planted and periodically clears.
After death
The soul, called the deposit, survives the body and can be put into storage or into a Next Level vehicle. The body is discarded like a suit of clothes. Earth itself was expected to be recycled — spaded under and replanted.
