Cao Đài

Branch
Core tenet of Cao Đài

All great teachers taught one God.

Buddha, Laozi, Confucius, Jesus, Muhammad — three revelations, one source: Cao Đài is the third and unifying amnesty.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Cao Đài's founding claim is that Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Christianity were all taught by the same Supreme Being through different messengers suited to their times and places, and that the third and final revelation is now given directly. Its Holy See at Tây Ninh venerates an unusual roster of saints including Victor Hugo, Sun Yat-sen, and the Vietnamese poet Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm — a choice that outsiders find startling and that follows straightforwardly from the premise.
