Yearly
Timkat.
On the eve of Epiphany the tabot of each church is wrapped, carried out under a canopy and taken in procession to water, where the parish keeps vigil all night. At dawn the water is blessed and thrown over the crowd, and everyone renews their baptism. It is the largest public event in the Ethiopian year and UNESCO inscribed it in 2019.
