The self is reborn until liberation.
Samsara is the default condition; moksha — release — is the shared goal the schools define differently.
Samsara is the default engine: the self migrates through bodies as through garments, driven by karma and craving. Every Indian tradition on this site — Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, Sikh — shares the wheel; they differ on what escapes it, and how, and whether anything rides it at all.
As a person discards worn-out garments and takes new ones, so the embodied self discards worn-out bodies and enters new ones.
