Core tenet of Jehovah's Witnesses

God's Kingdom is a real government.

Established, Witnesses hold, in 1914 — soon to replace every human rule. The good news is an announcement of state.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

The Kingdom is understood as a literal government established in heaven in 1914, which will shortly replace all human governments — which is why Witnesses do not vote, salute flags, serve in militaries, or participate in politics. That neutrality has cost them enormously: they were imprisoned in Nazi camps with their own badge, banned in the Soviet Union and Russia today, and their refusal of blood transfusions has generated a substantial body of medical case law.
