The heavens are open — revelation continues.
A living prophet leads the church and the canon is not closed: restoration means the line to God carries a signal again.
Continuing revelation is the Latter-day Saint distinctive: the canon is open, and the church's president is sustained as a prophet who can receive binding revelation. The consequence is a religion that can change substantively — polygamy was ended in 1890, the priesthood was extended to Black members in 1978 — and a permanent internal question about how such changes relate to earlier teaching. Members are also taught to seek personal revelation for their own lives, which puts a form of authority in every household.
