Death is optional.
The second of the four Truths, and the operative one: if a person is a pattern, then recording the pattern now and running it later is a survival strategy rather than a memorial.
Death is optional is the second of the four Truths — life is purposeful, death is optional, God is technological, love is essential — and it rests on an information-theoretic account of persons. If what makes you you is a pattern of information rather than a particular set of atoms, then recording enough of the pattern preserves the person, and reinstantiating it later is continuation rather than imitation. Every serious objection to Terasem lands here: philosophers of personal identity dispute that a copy is the original, and no working method exists for extracting or running a human mind. Terasem's answer is that the recording costs little and the alternative is certain, which is a wager rather than a demonstration and is presented as one.
