The family is where the fall is undone.
Salvation is not individual here. It runs through a blessed marriage and the children born of it, which is why the movement's central rite is a wedding and not a baptism.
Restoration in this theology runs through generations rather than through a single decision. A blessed couple is grafted onto a lineage in which original sin has been removed, their children are born into that lineage, and the family becomes the unit that carries the change forward. This is why the movement's vocabulary is domestic — True Parents, True Family, the four-position foundation — and why its ethics concentrate on sexual conduct with an intensity that surprises outsiders. It is also why leaving is difficult in a way that leaving a congregation is not: the thing being left is a family line.
