The study group.

Six to twenty people, a living room, a paper read aloud and argued over. There is no service, no offering and no leader — the study group is the whole institutional life of the movement.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this rite is held

A study group is six to twenty people, a host's living room, and a paper read aloud in turns with argument permitted at any point. There is no leader, no liturgy, no collection and no membership; the Urantia Book Fellowship and Urantia Foundation both maintain lists but neither charters them. Several hundred are listed worldwide and many have run for decades. This is the whole institutional life of the movement, and its persistent internal question is whether creating anything more — congregations, clergy, ordination — would betray a book that deliberately provided none.
