Core tenet of Seventh-day Adventism

The body is a temple — health is holiness.

Vegetarian tables, no alcohol or tobacco: the health message as gospel practice.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Adventist health teaching — vegetarian diet, no alcohol or tobacco, exercise, rest — is theologically grounded in the body as the Holy Spirit's temple, and its results are unusually well documented: the Adventist Health Studies have followed tens of thousands of members for decades and are among the most-cited longevity research in the world. Loma Linda, California, is the only Blue Zone in the United States, and it is an Adventist community.
