Zoroastrianism

Branch
Core tenet of Zoroastrianism

Existence is a war between truth and the lie.

Asha against druj: Ahura Mazda's good creation is contested by a real adversary — and the war has a winner.

Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

Zoroastrianism's cosmic dualism is the historical origin of a picture that later spread widely: a good creator opposed by a hostile destructive force, a world that is a battlefield, and an end in which good decisively wins. Scholars have long argued about how much Judaism, Christianity, and Islam absorbed from it during and after the Persian period — angels, a final judgment, a resurrection, a devil — and while the details are disputed, the contact was real and the chronology allows it. The dualism is temporary by design: it ends.
