Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this rite is held
The Holy Qurbana of Addai and Mari is one of the oldest eucharistic prayers in continuous use, dating in substance to perhaps the third century, and it is famous for a peculiarity: it contains no explicit words of institution ("this is my body"). Rome, after long study, recognized it as valid in 2001, which was a significant concession about what makes a eucharist a eucharist.
