Brahma — the creator.
First of the trimurti, maker of worlds — and almost unworshipped: a handful of temples next to Vishnu's thousands. Creation, the saying goes, was a one-time job.
Brahma has the strangest position in the Hindu pantheon: he is the creator of the classical triad and has almost no worshippers — a handful of temples in the entire subcontinent, most famously at Pushkar. Several stories explain the neglect as a curse for arrogance or for lying, and scholars read the situation the other way around: the stories arose to explain a cult that had already faded. The functional point is that Hinduism's living devotion goes to preservation and transformation, not to the act of making.
