Jesus — the content of the faith.

Teacher, healer, crucified and risen: Christianity does not merely follow his teaching — it claims him, personally, as God's self-disclosure.

Names & titlesJesus of Nazareth — Yeshua, the Christ
DomainThe incarnate Son — teacher, healer, crucified and risen Lord
RelationsSon of Mary; the second person of the Trinity in the flesh
Depicted asEvery way every culture has ever painted itself — that is the doctrine working
StandingNot the founder of the faith so much as its content
Understanding it — context, not catechism: how this passage is held

That Jesus is depicted in every ethnicity that has ever painted him is not a failure of historical memory but a working-out of the doctrine itself: if God assumed humanity, then every humanity can recognize itself in the image. The four gospels preserve four distinct portraits, and the church chose to keep all four.

From the sources — the passages this rests on; concise renderings, cited

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

John 1:14

The incarnation in seven words — the claim the creeds spend paragraphs guarding.

But who do you say that I am?

Mark 8:29
